Cows on bike path | Good Fences #8

During a bike ride we came across a field of cows grazing cows. But some of them, oh no, were walking on our bike path and although my husband wanted to bring them back in the pasture, they all refused to obey. They pulled leaves of an oak with their tongues. Looked at us. They were extremely curious about our presence!

Strong fences
For Good Fences, you can see a wooden fence and a gate of iron behind the cows. Strong fences! But when someone opens the gate ... you have cows on your bike path. Not funny. I don't like it. On the photo below you can see their were also good girls: obedient cows grazing in the pasture. There was plenty of green grass for all.

  8. Hello!:) Lovely photos of these attractive cows,... although most obstructive to bike riders when roaming around out of bounds. Cattle are gentle creatures, but best seen in fields behind fences. Best Regards!:)

  11. Lovely cow photos! They look very calm, so probably safe to ride your bikes around them.
Thank you for your comment on my blog. As to your question about Cheddar Cheese. It originated in England, but I don't know if our American version is the same as the English. Here it is a firm cheese that is easy to slice for sandwiches, and it is used in cooking, too. We have three versions - mild, sharp, and extra sharp.
As to the name of the Restaurant - I don't know why it is called Cheddar's. It has a wide variety of food.

  13. Thanks for stopping by. We once owned a farm. Our neihbours cows got loose and were at our front door. He came by dressed in a tuxedo ready to go to a wedding when he discovered his cows were loose. Poor man. With help from a dog and friend he got them back to their field. These days many cows never see a fenced in field .

Cows to Jedidja: “What are you doing here?”

There are cattle guards I think of. Grates on roads that cows will not pass over so they stay in their own area and don’t trespass. But I think those cattle guards can sometimes be dangerous.

These are relaxing photos evocative of a rural life. But come to think of it, maybe the cows are actually factories! For the ingredients of cheese.

    2. I saw the photo. Thank you.

P.S. I love coming back and looking at these photos of cows in the countryside. In a word, I find your photos to be a perfect example of the word: bucolic.

P.P.S. (This is a joke). If that habit of eating tree leaves by the one cow persists long enough over generations I wonder if its descendants will eventually come to look like this link.
