Dutch Leper Lily

Do you love this beautiful bell-shaped purple flower? It's also known as leper lily (because its shape resembled the bell once carried by lepers). The latin name is: Fritillaria meleagris

Kievitsbloem
Ik fotografeerde deze in de tuin van één van mijn vrienden. Ik had ze nog nooit gezien. Iemand uit BelgiΓ« zei dat zij witte kievitsbloemen had gezien. Lijkt me ook heel mooi. Heb jij ze ooit gezien?

The Dutch name for it is kievitsbloem. I saw this flower in my friend's garden, surrounded by red, white and red tulips and tulips with mixed colors, blue muscari and big big white hyacinths. So nice!

  19. What a unique and pretty flower. I've seen seeds for them advertised but have never got any. I guess I should try to grow some in my garden.
