WAVING WINGS

Today I cycled over a narrow road and I passed the lake with gray geese. They were very noisy today, diving under water and spreading their wings. Standing on the road, next to my bike, I took some pictures with my small, red camera.

  5. Aritha, I have a special place in my heart for the geese. You're right, they are noisy, and their honk is LOUD! I think they are just protective. But it's funny, when I go to the cemetery to visit my parents, they will be still and let me take their picture. They even come very close to me. I love them, and your pictures made my day.

  16. When I was young, my Mom and Grandmother set me over the baby goslings in the front yard to watch them so they would not get out into the road. It was my job to 'babysit" them. My Mom came out one day and found me asleep with all the goslings crowded around me, snuggled up close, and also asleep. I wish she had taken a picture, but she was too busy to take many pictures, but I remember the story. Our geese were also gray, although the goslings were yellow. So I have a tender spot for geese.

  17. In answer to your question above birds fly at night because it is cooler than the day and they are are able to dissipate heat more easily.
