NEW! Photo of the Week 📸🌟

13.11.2024

I’m working on this simple, super long scarf, and it’s such a calming experience. Each stitch is like a little moment of peace, helping me slow down and just be present. It’s not just about finishing something—it’s about enjoying the quiet rhythm and feeling relaxed as I go. So cozy and soothing!

A bolete (porcini) being slowly decomposed by mold. You don’t see this very often, so I took a photo of it in the forest near Hoenderloo."

I went outside to photograph the sunflower. There were two tiny snails on it.

This is the most beautiful mushroom in all of the Netherlands. Do you think it's pretty? I do. Normally, they grow in groups, but this one was just chilling solo on a lousy piece of wood—like the lone wolf of fungi.

Hip hip hooray! 🎉 I saw the first red mushroom with white spots 🍄 of this autumn, on Friday, October 12th. I want to blog about it next week. 📝

I took this photo on September 24th. I was taking a walk in Het Binnenveld. I love this little stretch of canal where the water is often a bit wilder. The reeds had been cut, so I could get closer to the water to take a picture.

We sat on a bench, Jaap eating Italian ice cream, and admired the picturesque view of IJsselstein. You can see the Windotter mill, built as a brick tower mill in 1732 by the lord of IJsselstein. It was a compulsory mill, meaning farmers were required to grind their grain there, and taxes were collected through the milling fees. The mill's location on the southwest side of the city wall ensured good wind conditions. I took this photo on Wednesday, June 24, 2024.

Thus, a heavy shower rolled into our village. I took this photo from the attic window on July 9, 2024. This is a shelf cloud. A shelf cloud (literally 'plank cloud') is a cloud that sometimes precedes severe thunderstorms.
