Pas op: vallende eikeltjes!
Het is nog maar nèt september, maar de eikels vinden het al tijd om te vallen. Ik hoorde ze letterlijk naar beneden komen: pok, pok, pok op de zachte bosbodem. Op het pad. Voorzichtig lopen dus, want voor je het weet glij je er over uit. 🙈
In het Nederlands is “eikel” ook een scheldwoord voor iemand die iets doms doet. Maar deze eikels doen juist iets heel knaps: ze groeien uit tot een mooi vruchtje compleet met een schattig hoedje erbovenop en uit hen kan dan weer een nieuwe boom groeien, eentje die eeuwen blijft staan. En nieuwe eikeltjes maakt.
Ik dacht: wat een leuk seizoen. De eikels vallen, en tegelijk ligt er nieuw leven in verborgen. Ode aan de Schepper, zeg ik dan als gelovige.
Als afsluiter nog 2 eikelfoto's. Als je goed kijkt op de laatste vaag wat ringen op de eikel. Dat zijn de groeilijntjes. Lijkt een beetje op jaarringen van een boom, maar dan op kleine schaal.
Ik vind dat gaaf om te zien.

VerwijderenAlthough our oak trees here in Florida do not have such large acorns as those, they still have them and yes, they are dropping. Their tiny little caps get stuck in the crevasses on the soles of my shoes and I have to pry them out before walking in the house or they will scratch the floor. Although I usually take off my outdoor shoes when I go inside, but SOME people in my house usually forget to do that... Ahem... Anyway, I love your pictures of the acorns. They are fascinating little items, full of potential! Just like our tiny little babies...full of potential! And when the tiny acorns fall on just the right soil, it's amazing what beautiful, tall, strong trees they will become. Much like our tiny babies...when they are nurtured in the right "soil" of love and tender care, what strong, handsome/beautiful people they will become. Yes, our Master Creator designed the acorns, the flower seeds, and the tiny little human seeds exactly perfect to become lovely images of His love. Have a lovely day my friend.

VerwijderenWe have a few oak trees here at my house. I would think that coffee made from acorns would be bitter. I don't like coffee anyway though. :)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI’ve heard it’s not actually bitter, because they treat the acorns first. I think I bought some years ago and tried it, but I missed the caffeine kick 😅. These days I drink tea more often – especially rooibos. How are you doing, Karen? Has your cold completely gone?

Yes, we did that too as kids! Every autumn we made little figures out of acorns, with matchsticks for arms and legs – I loved it so much. Such a pity you don’t have oaks around you… it would be perfect for you to craft with them and feel that childhood joy again ✨
VerwijderenOur deck is already almost covered in acorns from the neighbor's oak tree, too bad they're all still green. Can't wait to tell my husband (he gripes about the acorns all over the deck) that I've found a use for them. Or maybe I'll just make the coffee and not tell him, see if he notices (somehow I think he might). However, I'm intrigued by the idea. Loved your photos of the acorns on the trees.
