SUNRISE BIKING

I was biking for 1.5 hour to see the sunrise, the golden reeds along the water and the grazing sheep in the frozen pastures. Wandering between the lapwings (why are they here?) white herons, jackdaws, hares, pheasants and black cormorants. What a beautiful, beautiful cold morning!

Vanmorgen vroeg kleedde me warm aan.

Homemade Spanish coffee
Well (almost Spanish). No whipped cream for me, I used milk and just a little, little bit of liqueur. I added cinnamon, because I love cinnamon in my winter coffee.

  • What type of coffee do you prefer and why?

  1. Looks like you had a fine walk, Aritha, all bundled up to stay warm and cozy. The Lapwings would have been a thrill for me. In my experience they are pretty hardy shorebirds, so I am not really surprised that they are still around where you live. As for coffee, what I prefer depends on where I am, who I am with and to some extent my mood. But ifI had to pick one it would be cappuccino. Maybe that’s because I generally have a biscotti to go with it! Enjoy the weekend coming up.

    1. There was a cormorant in the tree, David. I made a photo but you can't hardly see the bird. Later I past the tree with the cormorant and te was so shocked by my pink hat. He dropped his fish into the water. Splash 😂

  3. To get up early and go out in the cold for a bike ride, I'm very impressed. Don't think I would want to do that but the photos you captured, it looks like it was well worth it. I like the sheep eating in the field, it looks so cold. The first few photos are absolutely beautiful, Aritha.

    1. Thank you Bill. I was taking the first photo while I was riding. There was no car behind me so I try to take a photo. It is difficult to photograph while you are biking...

My usual cup of coffee is 'Jacobs' with a tiny bit of milk.

    1. Jacobs? I had to google for it, Duta. And so I've this: "Jacobs is a brand of coffee that traces its beginnings to 1895 in Germany by Johann Jacobs and is today marketed in Europe by Jacobs Douwe Egberts. That is so interesting. Because Jacobs Douwe Egberts is a Dutch privately owned company (coffee, tea and hot chocolate). And ja ... I am a Ducth coffee drinker and my mom and dad always prefer "Jacobs" too. Have a nice Friday (and a good sjabbes later)

  16. Wat een goed begin van de dag. Prachtige foto's Aritha.

  24. It looks like a cooooold morning for a bike ride, but seeing the sunrise was a beautiful gift. Your Spanish coffee interested me, as I'm part Spanish myself. I love cinnamon too. You look cute in your pretty scarf and hat. Merry Christmas to you, Aritha.
