From the middle of the Netherlands (1)

I have read Dutch people love to write down prominent landmarks. The highest, the lowest, the wettest, driest spot of our country. Thus, the geographical center of the Netherlands is the forest, near the Goudsberg on the Lindeboomsberg in Lunteren. A stone marks the heart of the Netherlands. But ... nothing is certain in the Netherlands where everybody loves discussing. According to experts there are five different geographical centers :-)

Niets is zeker

My husband is construction engineer and calculated/figured out the steel construction of this very large monument around the stone that marks the geographical center of The Netherlands in Lunteren. It has the shape of an arena. The intention is that people can rest here in the grass that grows on the podium and that they enjoy the beautiful nature around them. The arena has a diameter of 25 meters.

Around the Lunterse Goudsberg (Gold Mountain) is an area of outstanding natural, cultural, historical and geological qualities. An active sand dune area with heather cows, beautiful Celtic Fields with the reconstruction of an Iron Age farm and an old Hessenweg.

Check out the great video about this area.

  9. I did not realize your husband did this work! I learned something new about your family :) He is a Math person, then. Likes numbers. My husband has always loved numbers. Me, NOT so much! My husband likes to build, also. :) This area you were describing sounds interesting! I find it amusing that there are five different centers :)

  15. This is a very unusual yet fascinating design. I can see how quiet moments of reflection could be had sitting within. Your husband did an admirable job on his creation around the stone.

  22. Dearest Jedidja; I enjoyed your instruction of the geographic center of your country♪ The podium people can rest in the grass that grows in wonderful. And makes a wonderful fence to share☆☆☆

Thank you so much for the sweet comment, Dear friend. I had a surgery of Retinal Detachment last year (left eye) and the distortion of the vision from the eye got a bit bad. Haha, going doctor and changing glasses. With my age, it can't be helped with some physical problems(^^;) But doing fine♪

Have a wonderful coming weekend with your wonderful family.
Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend in the Netherlands, xoxo Miyako*
