GREYLAG GOOSE ON A GRAY DAY

I doubt. Shall I share these gloomy pictures? Is it too depressing? But ... this is really Dutch, you know? Typically Dutch weather. Gray and gloomy skies. No, not pretty. But it's the reality of our ordinary life. Winter brings mostly rain and many... many dark days.

Twijfel, twijfel.

BIKING EVERY DAY

I force myself to bike every day, because it is so good to be outside. It helps prevent the winter blues. And when I am back home I am very happy with my candles. I light many candles, to create a warm feeling during the winter in our living room.

Ik ga er bijna iedere dag even op uit met de fiets. Nee, niet als het hard regent. En dan rijd ik een uurtje om ons dorp heen. Dit doe ik omdat fitness niet meer zo lukt met mijn frozen shoulder. Bewegen is belangrijk. Het helpt me om een winterdip te voorkomen.

What's the weather like in your country? Which season do you like?

  1. I know what you mean. Grey skies, winds, rain are not my cup of tea either. Here in Israel, the weather is still nice and warm. Only in the mornings and evenings it's quite cool; after all we're approaching winter.
I like all the seasons except...winter.
Good for you to ride the bicycle; it's fun and healthy.

    1. Thank you so much, Duta. I had to be content whith the weather. But a little bit sunshine out of Israel is welcome. Do you also love biking?

  2. Your third shot is my favourite.

Today here we have light snow.

Regarding your comment in today's post, there wasn't much more detail than what was in the caption. A look around online indicates that the File Hills people were of the Peepeekisis tribe.

  3. Your sky looks like ours. My wife loves wintertime and the darkness but also likes to light up the candles to make a peaceful atmosphere. Brighter days will eventually return to you.
Have a wonderful and peaceful evening.

  4. Right now it is cold, snowing, and windy.
I like all the seasons and don't have a favorite. I'm always ready for the next season to come along.

  6. That's great that you ride your bike every day. Although the skies are gloomy in these pictures, they still are pretty. Keep lighting those candles in your home. I bet your house looks warm and cozy with all of them lit. Aritha, I wanted to tell you that I love that selfie of you and your son. I smiled, as I've always been close to my son. : )

  7. It is always good to get outside, Aritha, and since we can’t change the weather we have to get used to it and make the most of it. It has been grey and gloomy here too, but at this time of the year we have friends over and all enjoy being together inside....a little wine, good food, good companionship. Wonderful!

  12. Loved the photo with all the geese.
Unfortunately I hate winter, I'm glad winter in Australia is short and not too cold.
I lived in Germany just over 30 years ago where eh winters were long and gray and wet and with snow and hated it! My favourite seasons are Spring and Summer.

  18. The beautiful scenery makes for a most enjoyable bike ride I'm sure. Lighting candles in your home must make it feel so cozy. Winter is not my favorite season. I really dislike the cold weather. I'm more of a Spring and Summer girl.
