EARLY CROCUSES AFTER THE RAIN

After the rain I cycled to the crocuses. But when I arrived I saw that many flowers kept their leaves closed because it was still a bit cloudy.

The crocus blooms for about 3 weeks in early spring. The calyx-shaped flowers open only when the sun shines or when there is a lot of light; they close up in rainy weather and at night. Source: Crocus vernus

Finally the sun has started shining again.

Toen scheen de zon weer. Prachtig gezicht. De kleuren leken zoveel dieper en sommige krokussen openden hun blaadjes al. Het was leuk om wat foto's te nemen. En toen weer gauw naar huis.

  • Heb jij al krokussen gespot?

A single crocus blossom ought to be enough to convince our heart that springtime, no matter how predictable, is somehow a gift, gratuitous, gratis, a grace. David Steindl-Rast

  13. I love your pictures, Aritha! You managed to capture the right colour of these little flowers. My camera unfortunately makes them look bluer than they are and fails to show the purple shades in the petals. Very refreshing photos! Hugs!
