Het was al donker. Mijn man haalde in het schemerdonker de was binnen en riep door de kier naar binnen: “Ik hoor een vogeltje.”
Ik glipte naar buiten. Ja! Ik hoorde het ook.Een klein, helder geluidje.
Ik luisterde en genoot.
Toen weer naar binnen.
De volgende ochtend gooide ik afval weg in de container en toen hoorde ik het wéér. Ik tuurde naar huizenrij aan de overkant van de straat. Daar zag ik iets kleins op de nok van het dak. Snel mijn camera, erbij en klik–klik–klik. Ik móést weten wat voor een vogeltje het was.
Een piepklein silhouet tegen de blauwe lucht. Zie je dat? Ik zoomde in… "O, waarom zeg je niet gelijk dat je een roodborst bent? Ik googelde later even en las dit: na de rui beginnen het roodborstjes te weer te zingen in de herfst om hun territorium te claimen.
Ik ga mijn blog afronden met
... twee bonusfoto’s uit de herfstvakantie: roodborstje in de zon en roodborstje in de regen. Het lijkt net alsof hij op tandenstokers staat.
Zo benieuwd of de Amerikaanse robin ook zo klinkt!

En om te bewijzen dat mijn roodborst-obsessie echt is show ik mijn roodborst-mok. Cadeautje van mijn man, tijdens onze vakantie.

He is very sweet. yes, I've heard some birds in the night, but not always sure what they are! I enjoyed your post so much. Would love to see one of your robins sometime!!

VerwijderenEuropean Robins are much smaller than American Robins, and sound different, too. They are not quite as red on their breast as yours. I don't think I've heard birds in the evening other than owls. Your mug is lovely!

BeantwoordenVerwijderenLove your cup! I have a couple of Robin in my garden for years but when it’s dark the birds in our garden go to sleep and don’t sing anymore . I love our robins they sometimes come in the house. I have a blue tit mug and we have about 7 in the garden.
