Blooming heather and model airplanes.

Saturday my husband and I went to the Ginkel Heath, ten minutes away by car. (In 1944 the Allied airborne landings took place here during Operation Market Garden). We now came to look for the blooming heather. Last year we were too late but now ... oh, so beautiful: heather in bloom!

Bloeiende Hei
Geweldig!

After awhile we found a dirt road. That was easier walking than among the heather bushes. We saw a tractor with a wagon. An older man lost his walking cane and shouted loud. Fortunately the tractor halted and the man could pick up his cane :-)

Wandelstok verloren

Surprise! There was an aircraft show with model airplanes on the heath. There the tractor came from and we decided to take a closer look.

Modelvliegtuigen
Verrassing!

There was also a plane crash. So sorry for the owner of the model airplane. There are hours of work in a handmade model airplane! When we walked back to the car we smelled the fuel of the model aircraft. Yes, this was a really nice trip. Blooming heather, sheep, dirt road, honeybees, model airplanes, a show and afterwards soft ice cream with whipped cream.

Mjammie!

  4. Hello!:) I must say I like the sheep accommodation, what an attractive stable, and lovely photo of the sheep, and also of the heather. It was a shame one of the planes crashed. The ones you share are so colourful and look well made.

  15. Thanks for this very nice post. I've not seen heather before (so far as I can recall). So beautiful. Love the model airplanes, too. I used to make those when a kid, but they were not anything like these beauties. Very time-consuming and very expensive, but a lot of fun!

  19. Oh the heather is beautiful. I remember the heather from when we lived in Scotland.
    Those airplanes are fabulous.
I've watched people flying them before. So much work goes into them.
