Bicycle Parking | The Netherlands

We Dutch combine public transport with biking. My son is going every day on his bike to the train station. Or to the bus station. I hope you like the parking facility for bikes on my photos. It isn't in my own city but in my father's village: Barneveld.

Fiets inspiratie

Biking in snow
Below I posted a video of the Netherlands (city of Utrecht) in winter. What are we doing in the winter with our bikes?  Yes, we use them. Also when it's snowing.

    1. Nee, niet zwak. Slim. Ik doe het alleen als het niet anders kan.

  4. I've never seen so many bikes parked together. That's really great that lots of people ride their bikes, good for the environment, good exercise and good for your health. When I lived in Alaska, people rode their bikes in -50F. The bike shop in Fairbanks sold studded bike tires for winter use. Gloves and warm clothes really is all you need to stay warm.

  9. Heerlijk Jedidja, echt Nederlands. Moet je eens in Amsterdam kijken bij het centraal station, je weet niet wat je ziet.

  10. When I think of the Netherlands, first I think of lovely flowers and gardening, then I think of cycling and, third, I think of skating on frozen canals. :)
It's great you cycle so much and have organised so well the cycling paths and parking facilities.
Thank you for the interesting post. Have a happy weekend!

  12. It would be a dream come true to live in such a bicycle friendly culture. I so wish that the USA would be more like the Dutch in this way. I personally and afraid to ride in the snow. I have fallen off of my bike and I am working on not being afraid to ride again. We have not had our first snow yet, which is odd. It will not be long! Thank you for the hugs!! I am praying for you as you mourn your dear mother. I hope your father is well again soon.

  14. A familiar sight! (if you remember I'm Dutch) I never was too good in biking in the snow - I can still feel the bruises from falling, lol! Hoope dat je een fijne sinterklaas hebt gehad!
