Zoons gingen met de bus naar Aken. Ze stuurden een paar foto's van de Dom van Aken. 

My sons went to Aachen in Germany by bus (20 minutes). They sent a few pictures of the Aachen Cathedral.

THE GEUL RIVER

We gingen op zoek naar het riviertje de Geul. Ik wilde zo graag de Geul een keer zien. En we vonden hem in Mechelen.

De Geul is een rivier die ontspringt in België bij de Cycloopstenen aan de Duitse grens. Ze verlaat België bij Sippenaeken en komt bij Cottessen Nederland binnen. Boven Itteren mondt ze uit in de Maas. (Bron: Wikipedia)

Searching for the Geul River. The Geul is a river in Belgium and in the Netherlands, where it is a right-bank tributary to the river Meuse. below you see a nice house. Timber framing and "post-and-beam" construction are traditional methods of building with heavy timbers, creating structures using squared-off and carefully fitted and joined timbers with joints secured by large wooden pegs. It is commonplace in wooden buildings through the 19th century. The country most known for this kind of architecture is Germany. But also in The Netherlands!

WALKING AMONG MEADOWS

Gisteren wandelen we een stukje door de weilanden, vlak bij het dorpje Vijlen. We liepen langs een mooie wijngaard. Het was erg warm, met die zon pal boven ons hoofd. Maar ook erg mooi.

Yesterday we walked among the meadows, near the village of Vijlen. We saw a beautiful vineyard. It was so warm on the hiking trail, with that sun right above our heads. But also very beautiful.

Located at 200 meters above Normaal Amsterdams Peil, on top of the Vijlenerberg (Vijlener hill), it is the highest situated town in the Netherlands. The neo-gothic and Catholic St. Martinus church, which is located in the center of the village, is known as the highest located church in the country. (Source: Wikipedia)

Daarna dronken we koffie bij restaurant De Rozenhof. We werden er uiterst snel geholpen. En we de lekkerste fruittaart van Nederland. Wat was die taart lekker.

Later we took a cup of coffee in a restaurant. And we enjoyed a large piece of fruit pie. The most delicious ever!

MEADOW BROWN

In het Limburgse land zag ik een mooi vlindertje. Weet iemand de naam? Ik denk zelf dat het een bruin zandoogje is maar ik weet het niet zeker.

I saw a beautiful butterfly in Limburg. Does anyone know the name? I think it's an meadow brown, but I'm not sure.

MORNING STAR FLOWER

Vandaag liep ik over een grasveld en zag ik deze mooie, gele bloem. Ik denk dat het de gele morgenster. is. Of de oosterse. Het bloemhoofdje sluit zich tegen de middag. Bijzonder toch!

Today I saw this beautiful flower in the grass. I took a photo because I had never seen this flower before. I don't know the English name but in Dutch it is the yellow morning star. 

Yellow flowers have the potential to bring joy to pretty much anyone!
