Deze foto's maakte ik in Rhenen, bij de Rijnbrug. 

1. De tractor reed aan de overkant van de Rijn (ik zoomde hem in). 
2. Regendruppels op mijn lens, o nee. 
3. Dit meisje reed op de Rijnbrug, boven mijn fietspad. 
4. Gezinnetje met hond in kleur tijdens hagelbui. Vooral dat roze hoofddoekje 💗

WATCH THE BIRDS

Zie je me op de foto? Ik maakt foto's van het plafond. De eetkamer in kasteel Cannenburgh heeft een indrukwekkend 17e-eeuws balkenplafond dat met wolken en vogels beschilderd is. Ik vond het geweldig om te zien. 

You see me in the picture? I take pictures of the ceiling. The dining room in the Cannenburgh Castle has an impressive 17th-century beamed ceiling, painted with clouds and birds. Amazing.

Ik stel me zo voor dat ik daar zit te eten met de familie. Omdat het zo lang duurt ga ik maar vogeltjes kijken... boven mijn hoofd.

DUTCH CANNENBURGH CASTLE

Ik hou van kastelen. Gisteren bezochten we kasteel Cannenburgh In Vaassen. Ik was er nog nooit geweest en zal er komende keren wat foto's van laten zien. Nu alleen de buitenkant. Dit kasteel is trouwens een van de 7 opengestelde kastelen van Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen. Lees HIER meer over dit kasteel.

Cannenburgh Castle

I like castles. Yesterday we visited Cannenburgh Castle In Vaassen. I'd never been there before and will show some pictures of the interior in my next posts. I will take you back to the 18th century, OK?

AMAZING DUTCH CITY

My husband sent me beautiful photos from the city of Zierikzee. Medieval walls, gates, churches, towers of long-gone days are still there. It is a picturesque city, that attracts many day trip visitors who are interested in the glorious past.

Mijn man is met onze zoons op vakantie geweest (terwijl ik ziek thuis was). En omdat hij wist dat ik heel graag foto's van Zierikzee wilde hebben stuurde hij er een paar op. Het was zonet een hele zoektocht om de namen erbij te vinden. Ik ben zelf in Zeeland geboren en vroeger ben ik wel eens in Zierikzee geweest. 

Ik kon me eigenlijk alleen die plompe toren herinneren!

An old Dutch drawbridge

Below you see the Sint-Lievensmonstertoren.  It is a 62 metre tall, unfinished, free standing church tower. The accompanying church was destroyed by a fire in 1832.

In 1454 work started on a church tower, designed by Andries I Keldermans in the Brabantine Gothic style. It was planned to be, according to different sources, either 130 metres or 204 metres tall (the latter would have made it the tallest church tower in the world by far). Work on the tower halted in 1530, when the city went through a financial crisis. The tower is now 62 metres tall, on a base of 24.5 metres by 24.5 metres. Since 1881, it is a property of the state, and it has been designated a Rijksmonument.

BAKERY VAN OOIJEN IN TIEL

My husband sent me three photos from a bakery in the city of Tiel. Bread chocolate confectionery G. van Ooijen has more than 80 types of bread and small breads and the finest patisserie in its range. Sometimes authentic recipes of his (grand) father, whom G. van Ooijen took over the bakery.

TULIPS AND KERMISKOEK

Most of all I love the breads ouside the bakery with the tulips. You can buy there the famous carnival cake (kermiskoek). 

Historically, the Dutch Carnival Cake was made solely in October for the autumn carnival of Tiel. It used to be given as a wedding proposal present. A farmer’s son bought a Carnival Cake for his beloved. If the girl gave him a slice of the cake on the eighth or fourteenth day after the proposal, they would get engaged. If she did not serve the cake, she turned down his offer. Nowadays the offering of the lovecake is not a proposal anymore, but a token of love and appreciation between partners, family and friends. Its old recipe holds a variety of ingredients among which are freshly harvested rye flour and freshly harvested honey from the Betuwe region, additionally the cake is enriched with rock candy. (Source: Wikipedia)

Mijn man liep tijdens zijn pauze langs deze bekende bakkerij in Tiel. Hij maakte vlug deze foto's met zijn telefoon. Omdat hij wist hoe grappig ik deze reclame zou vinden.

Brood- en banketbakkerij G. van Ooijen draagt het predicaat: Hofleverancier. Dat is een Koninklijke onderscheiding voor kleine en middelgrote bedrijven, voor bedrijven van tenminste honderd jaar oud met een heel erg goede reputatie in de regio. Deze bedrijven onderscheiden zich door hun soliditeit, en continuïteit en natuurlijk hun uitstekende kwaliteit.

HOOG CATHARIJNE IN UTRECHT

My husband is a construction engineer. He calculated small details of the "new" Hoog Catharijne in Utrecht. I share some photos and a video.

Hoog Catharijne is with over 150 stores one of the largest indoor shopping centers in the Netherlands.

Mijn man is bouwkundig ingenieur en rekende een paar details uit van het nieuwe Hoog Catherijne in Utrecht. Ben je er al geweest? Ik nog niet maar mijn man wil me graag een keertje meenemen. Ik kreeg deze foto's voor mijn blog!

Blue sky above the city of Veenendaal

Three new pictures, made by my son, to share on my blog. You see our new canal with nieuwe buildings along it. Solid bridges with railings. I cycle here often and I love it. O yes,  I wrote about it before. You can read it HERE (fish under the ice).

Brouwersgracht

Mijn zoon stuurde me drie nieuwe foto's via de e-mail, die hij maakte met zijn telefoon. Op de foto's je ziet onze nieuwe gracht en veel grote nieuwe gebouwen erlangs. Alleen het gebouw (zie laatste foto) met de witte klokkentoren is niet nieuw. Dat is een juwelierszaak die al vele jaren bestaat. Het carillon speelt echt en is altijd zo mooi om te horen!

Hundred Floating Umbrellas

The business owners of the Weerstraat in the city of Tiel had an idea to make the street more attractive. First there was the idea to hang old lampshades over it. But now you can see  hundred floating umbrellas! So cute.

Honderd Paraplu's
De ondernemers van één van de straten in Tiel wilden hun straat graag opleuken. Eerst speelden ze met het idee van lampenkappen. En nu hangen er honderd vrolijke paraplu's in de Weerstraat. Wel grappig toch?

Cycling at Sunset

After doing her homework my daughter often cycles a bit in our area. This week she made beautiful pictures of the sunset. With her phone. She sent them to me because she knows how I love sunsets! I do not like that she is cycling through the dark. But ok, I'm happy with these pictures ..

Mooie lucht
Na het maken van haar huiswerk mijn dochter fietst vaak een stukje in onze omgeving. Even een luchtje scheppen. Deze week zij maakte mooie foto's van de zonsondergang. Met haar telefoon. Ze stuurde ze naar mij omdat ze weet hoeveel ik houd van mooie luchten.

This is what I saw in a street, in an old Dutch city Blue is the color! I love blue, you too?

Dit zag ik op straat. Zo grappig: al dat blauw. Ik hou er wel van.

Fijne week!

I saw a plane today

This morning I cycled to a store. Here and there it was a bit slippery. I passed the water with the pollarded willows along it. Always nice. Also on a gray day.

 

Knotwilgen

Vanmorgen fietste naar een winkel dichtbij. Het was koud, wit en glad. Ik kwam langs de knotwilgen langs de waterkant en stapte even af voor een foto. Altijd mooi, die bomen. Ook op een grauwe dag.

 

On the second picture you can see a blikvanger (cans catcher). A sort of slanted trash can alongside the cycle path. While riding your bike you can hurl your rubbish in the trash, without stopping. I love to do it :)

De blikvanger! Leuk om al rijdend er iets in te gooien. Niet er naast mikken hè?

 

I cycled further and saw an airplane :) It was landed in front of an office block. I've read on the site of Rodenburg BV that this plane symbolizes the core values of their company. This company is situated on the  fokkerstraat (straat =street) and this steet is named after Anthony Fokker.

Ik fietste het industrie terrein op en zag gelijk dit vliegtuig. Maf gezicht. De straat waar het vliegtuig staat heet fokkerstraat naar Anthony Fokker, de vliegtuigbouwer. HIER een linkje naar het bedrijf en het vliegtuig. De luchtvaart  en het bedrijf kennen beiden geen grenzen. Het vliegtuig staat daar symbool voor. Anthony Fokker, de vliegtuigbouwer.
